Home Surgical Procedures Breast Uplift

Ageing, having children, weight loss and a number of other factors can cause the breasts to lose firmness, which can lead to a deflated and droopy appearance. This is a common complaint for many women and can have a hugely negative effect on their confidence. Breast uplift is the surgical procedure that can reshape and raise the breasts so that they look firmer and more youthful.

The surgery involves removing excess skin from either underneath the breast or around the areola and repositioning the breast tissue higher on the chest. During the procedure the skin is tightened, which creates a firmer cone of breast tissue, and the nipple is moved to a higher position. Breast uplift can be combined with breast augmentation in order to increase the size of the breasts during the same procedure.

The best results are achieved in women with small sagging breasts although breasts of any size can be lifted.

Mastopexy, which is the medical name of the procedure, is performed under general anaesthesia and takes 1.5-2 hours. An overnight stay in the clinic, following the operation, will be required. Stitches can be removed 10-12 days after surgery.
