Home Surgical Procedures Buttock Lift/Gluteal Lift
Some people are unhappy with the size or shape of their buttocks and want a more sensuous or muscular appearance. Plastic surgery can solve these problems using a combination of techniques that involve the surgical insertion of artificial implants into the buttocks, the removal of any excess skin, and even liposuction to remove the unwanted fat from the area.

For implants, the surgeon will make an incision approximately 8cm long at the midline of the buttocks. He will then create a pocket, either in the main buttock muscle or between the muscle and fat, and insert the solid silicon implant through the incision. Once the surgeon is satisfied that both buttocks are symmetrical with a natural look he will stitch up the incisions. The scar tissue that will be formed will help keep the implant in place.

To remove the excess skin, the surgeon makes an incision from hip to hip along the lower back, pulls up the skin to lift the buttocks and then removes the excess skin before suturing the incision closed.

Should it be required, liposuction, usually of the lower back, is also performed to achieve a more balanced result.

This surgery usually takes between two to three hours to complete and is performed under general anaesthesia. Therefore, an overnight stay in the clinic is required. A pressure garment is usually worn for up to six weeks to help prevent fluid build up and to provide support during the healing process. Stitches will be removed 10 to 14 days after the operation.
